eTwinning, iConnectED2: What can I do about hate speech?

Julkaistu: 24.01.2020 klo 19.26

On Friday 24. January the second year students had a Skype contact to Denmark. Marie Louise Petersen and her students were participating the lesson and listening to the presentations held by students. Hanna Viippola had organized the making of the presentations. This online contact belongs to eTwinning project Empathy and social media. The subject of the lesson was hate speech and what do about it.

The lesson started by defining hate speech.

The Danish audience was polite and applauded for each group.

Each group had a presentation of a different angle.

How do apps react to hate speech? was the subject of this group.

There are many possibilities to influence in media. Everyone can influence e.g. the atmosphere of the discussions. If you see hate speech, you should report it.

After the presentations there was a Kahoot about the subject. The questions were made by students and Hanna to check the opinions of the audience.

Thank you for the collaboration, Marie-Louise and students in Denmark! Thank you for the presentations and arrangements, Hanna and students!

We´ll meet again online on the 3rd of February when the Danes will have a presentation about transphobia and homophobia.
